Good for budget conscious
I bought this for my granddaughter because she loves chai and is a college student without a lot of money. This way, she can enjoy her chai without the financial hassle. I also thought that this was a version she could try.
Waka Instant Dirty Chai is a blend of pure tea leaves, 100% Arabica instant coffee, and real spices — a dirty chai is chai with a shot of espresso in it, and this is that drink in dissolvable powder form. It is unsweetened with no added sugar, no fillers, no artificial solvents, and no preservatives. A 1.5 teaspoon serving contains approximately 70 mg of caffeine, the highest of any Waka tea product, because it contains both tea and coffee. The 4.5 oz pouch dissolves in hot or cold water with no brewing or steeping.
What is a dirty chai?
A dirty chai is a chai latte with a shot of espresso added. The chai spices and black tea stay in the foreground, with coffee adding body and extra caffeine. Waka's version blends tea, instant coffee, and spices into one powder so no espresso machine is needed.
How much caffeine is in Waka Dirty Chai?
Approximately 70 mg per 1.5 teaspoon serving. That is more than the traditional chai at about 15 mg per 1/4 teaspoon, because dirty chai contains coffee as well as tea.
Is it sweetened?
No. There is no added sugar. Most chai drinks are sweetened, so if you want the traditional taste, add your own sweetener and milk to preference.
How do you make a dirty chai latte with it?
Dissolve 1.5 tsp in a small amount of hot water, then add hot or steamed milk. For iced, dissolve in hot water first, then pour over cold milk and ice. Mix vigorously or use a frother if going directly into cold liquid.
Add 1.5 tsp chai powder to a cup (adjust to taste). For hot chai, pour in 4 fl oz hot water and stir, then top with 4 fl oz hot milk of your choice and sweetener. For iced chai, add 2 fl oz hot water and stir, then top with 6 fl oz cold milk, sweetener, and ice. Customize by adjusting the powder, milk, and sweetener to your liking.
Waka instant coffee contains between 3 mg and 80 mg of caffeine per serving, depending on the roast. Exact amounts by product:
A standard 8 fl oz cup of drip coffee contains roughly 95 mg of caffeine. Waka Medium Roast at the recommended 2 tsp serving contains approximately 55 mg, which is a little over half the caffeine of a typical brewed cup. Use more powder for a stronger cup.
Every Waka product is printed with an exact "best by" date on its packaging. Waka does not ship any full-priced item with less than three months of shelf life remaining.
