What is a mojito?
If you don’t already know, a regular mojito is an alcoholic beverage that contains rum, lime, club soda, sugar, and mint. Mojitos originated in Cuba and date back all the way to the 16th century. It’s a great go-to drink because it’s refreshing, bold, and still has a kick of flavor from the acidity of the lime and the strong aroma of the mint.
What is an instant coffee mint mojito?
Don’t worry, there’s no alcohol involved in a coffee mint mojito. The idea is essentially the same, though. Instant coffee mint mojito is simply iced instant coffee with mint, sugar, and milk. It adds an entirely new dimension of flavor to your instant coffee. You get the sweetness of the milk and sugar, the bitterness of the coffee, and the cool menthol flavor from the mint. If you want to go a step further, top off the ice coffee with a cream or foam to create contrast of texture.
How do you make instant coffee mint mojito?
This recipe requires little to no skill, and only takes minutes to make. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Your favorite large mug or mason jar
- Shaker/milk frother
- 5 Mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1/5 cup Milk or Milk Alternative
- 1 1/5 packets of Waka instant coffee (or 2-3 tsp)
- 1/5 cup hot water
- Ground cinnamon powder
Place 3 mint leaves into your mug and add the sugar. Muddle the mint and brown sugar enough that the aroma of the mint becomes apparent. Be careful not to break up the mint to avoid getting all mint bits in your mouth.
In a separate cup, mix instant coffee with the hot water until fully dissolved. if you want a stronger coffee taste , you can add more instant coffee powder.
Pour brewed instant coffee into the mason jar with the mint and sugar. Stir well and then strain the mint leaves.
Add ice and about 1/5 a cup of milk, leaving enough room for the frothed milk on top.
In a separate bowl or shaker, froth the milk by hand shaking or using a milk frother to foam the milk until it is airy and doubles in size.
Add frothed milk on top of the coffee and garnish with 2 mint leaves and ground cinnamon powder. Voila! Enjoy your mint mojito iced instant coffee.
