What Makes the Latte Blue?

Blue is actually one of the least common colors in the foods and drinks we consume. So why is this caramel latte blue? The answer is because we added a secret ingredient: dried butterfly pea flower! Butterfly pea flower, also known as Clitoria ternatea, is a deep blue plant that has been used to brew tea or make natural dye for centuries. Only recently has butterfly pea flower been introduced and growing in popularity with tea drinkers outside of South-East Asia where the plant originates.
