What is Proffee?

Proffee or protein coffee is the latest wellness trend on TikTok that basically combines coffee with a protein shake or protein powder. The taste of protein coffee is much like a protein shake but more rich and creamy. Proffee is a great way to wake up in the morning or give yourself an afternoon pick-me-up if you are feeling tired. The reason for combining the two ingredients is to have a nutritionally well-balanced "meal" that also provides an energy boost. It can also be used as a meal replacement during a busy workday, running errands, etc.

Benefits of Adding Protein to Coffee

Protein is useful because it has many benefits. One of the best benefits of combining coffee with protein is that it gives your metabolism a boost. Increasing your protein consumption can actually reduce your cravings for sugars and carbohydrates throughout the day. Another benefit is that protein helps your body repair and build muscles after an intense workout. Of course, coffee alone will not have this effect, but adding protein to your coffee may be just what you're looking for. Another benefit of protein is that it helps you feel full longer. This makes protein-infused drinks perfect meal replacements or snack substitutes when you're trying to lose weight.

How Much Protein to Add to Coffee?

The amount of protein you should add to your coffee will depend on the protein powder you're using, as well as your weight and fitness goals. A general rule of thumb is to use one scoop (or serving) per cup of coffee. This will give you a nice boost without weighing you down.

An adult should consume approximately 0.36 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight, according to the National Institutes of Health's report on Dietary Reference Intake. This implies that if you weigh 120 pounds, you need 43 grams of protein each day. Keep in mind that these nutrition numbers are for non-active adults. Athletes like marathon runners require a greater amount of protein per day (about 0.55 grams per pound).
