Vegan Coffee Chia Parfait Recipe
Do you love waking up to coffee? Now you can also eat it for breakfast. Make this delicious and nutritious chia instant coffee parfait.
What is Parfait?
Parfait is a refrigerated layered dessert from France. The name in French means literally, something perfect (which we couldn't agree more). According to history, it was first served in 1894 and made from a base of sugar syrup, egg, and cream.
The American version of parfait can include additional ingredients such as granola, nuts and yogurt, topped with fruit or whipped cream. It is very easy to make and customize, like we did with this vegan version.
Health benefits of Chia seeds
According to the USDA National Nutrient Database, one-ounce serving of chia seeds include 13.07 grams of carbohydrate, 11.2 grams of fiber, 5.6 grams of protein and no sugar. Chia seeds also provide more omega-3s, calcium, phosphorus, and fiber than any other flaxseeds.
Chia seeds are also loaded with antioxidants, may lower your risk of a heart disease and can reduce your blood sugar levels. Combined with the health benefits of coffee, this recipe is just a great and easy breakfast option.
