The Ketogenic diet or Keto diet for short is a low-carb, high-fat diet. Some experts believe that it offers better health benefits than other diets and a faster way to lose extra weight. Health professionals now believe that a low-carb diet, higher in fat and protein is a good option to treat obesity and other chronic diseases. This is just one example of an article summarizing 23 studies on low-carb and low-fat diets and their results.

This diet shares some similarities with other diets, such as the Atkins diet and other low-carb diets. While participating in this diet, people reduce their carbs intake and drastically increase the consumption of foods full with fats. As a result, they put their body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

What is Ketosis?

Ketosis is a metabolic state in which fat provides most of the fuel for the body. In this situation your body burns fat instead of carbohydrates for energy. It occurs because there is a limited amount of glucose (sugar that comes from carbs), which is usually the preferred fuel for many cells in the body.

You can upgrade your instant coffee to become keto-friendly as well if you choose to try out the keto diet. That way, you can continue drinking your beloved coffee and still stick to the diet.

What is a Bulletproof Coffee?

Bulletproof coffee is a coffee mix consisting of coffee, unsalted grass-fed butter, and medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) coconut oil. It is meant to be drunk on an empty stomach instead of breakfast and prior to working out. keto experts believe it can help you increase energy and endurance for your day. MCT’s are fatty acids that are found naturally in coconut and palm oils and can stabilize blood sugar and help your body get into a state of Ketosis. The Bulletproof shake is very high in calories and fat, so this is why it should replace a meal and not drunk with a meal.

Why is Bulletproof Coffee Good for You?

It provides energy while on Keto diet

While on Keto diet, Ketones (water-soluble molecules that are produced by the liver from fatty acids) act as the body’s primary fuel when glucose is not available. Bulletproof coffee is great for your energy as it elevates ketone levels in the blood. In general, people sometime claim mental alertness and elevated energy after consuming the shake. This, however, can be due to the caffeine and fat mix, which can naturally be found as part of any healthy diet too.

You keep your daily coffee intake

Coffee is one of the most loved and commonly consumed drinks in the world. In 2017, Robin Poole, a public health specialist at Britain's University of Southampton, published the results of his study regarding coffee’s relation to humans’ health. His publication included 201 studies based on observational research and 17 studies based on clinical trials.

His research concluded that “People who drink three to four cups of coffee a day are more likely to see health benefits than harm, experiencing lower risks of premature death and heart disease than those who abstain.” Read more here

  • I’ve been doing Keto for there months and have lost 30 lbs. I think people who “fail” are failing because, let’s be honest, Keto’ing is hard. It takes a ton if discipline and no cheating at all. If you aren’t doing what you’re supposed to, you’ll fail. You MUST eat breakfast!! It’s important to get those proteins and fats every single day. I also work out daily, which not all Ketoers do, but I really wanted to tone up as I slimmed down. I drink regular coffee everyday (vanilla or macadamia nut), but I drink it black. No sugar, no cream… If you don’t like black coffee, I suggest the flavored coffee or using heavy whipping cream and a sugar substitute. Coffee as a meal just doesn’t work for me. Hope that helps!
