The traditional Italian macchiato is a layered coffee drink made hot or iced. The word “macchiato” is the English version for the Italian Caffé Macchiato, which means “marked” or “stained.” Just like the coffee "stains" the milk!
The traditional macchiato is stronger compared to the cappuccino, as it contains more coffee and less milk.
This easy to make iced caramel macchiato is perfect of a hot summer days or honestly for any other occasion (yup, cold winter days under the blanket as well!).
Easy to make instant coffee iced caramel macchiato
Ingredients (2 servings):
- 8 oz hot water
- 4 tsp Waka Instant Coffee
- 3 cups medium size ice cubes
- 2 oz vanilla syrup
- 8 oz coconut milk
- Whipped cream
- 2 tbsp salted caramel syrup
Boil water and add Waka instant coffee. Stir until fully dissolved and set aside.
Fill 2 medium-size mason jars (8-12 fl oz) with 1 ⅕ cups of ice cubes each.
Pour 1 oz of vanilla syrup on the sides of each mason jar.
Add 4 oz milk in each mason jar. Then, pour half of the brewed instant coffee through the middle of each jar.
Add whip cream, drizzle with the salted caramel syrup. Enjoy!
