Coffee Recipe: How to Make Guacamocha Mousse

Is it guacamole? Is it a mocha? Or is it mousse? It's actually all of the above. Let's learn how to make a caffeinated and chocolatey mousse from avocados!

What is Mousse?

A mousse is a sweet or savory soft food made using air bubbles. In fact, mousse means "froth" or "foam" in French. To make mousse, we just need to combine and whip together all the ingredients until it's nice and fluffy.

Specifically, mousse is made from four key components: the base, the aerator(s), the sweetener, and the thickener. Depending on how it's prepared, mousses can be light and fluffy or creamy and thick.

In this recipe, we will be using instant coffee and cocoa powder for our base. We'll be using two large avocados as our aerator and maple syrup as our sweetener. Lastly, we'll be using coconut milk to thicken the mousse.

  • 2 large avocados
  • 1/2 cup of coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup of maple syrup (1/2 cup for those that like it sweeter)
  • 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of Waka Instant Coffee (2 tsp for those that want more coffee flavor)
  • Pinch of Pink Himalayan Salt (optional)
  • Maxine's Heavenly's crispy cookies

  1. Mix all the ingredients up into a blender or a food processor until smooth.
  2. Chill mousse in the fridge for a while (optional).
  3. Enjoy by itself or with crispy cookies.
